Outside covered area

The completed structure

We are delighted to announce that the outside covered area has been completed.

Erecting the powder coated aluminium supports

The local firm, Outside Structure Solutions Ltd of Sawtry, have erected a 7m by 4m “Mendip” canopy outside the Club’s main entrance to the side of the Clubhouse. This has been paid for by a £9,936 grant from the Big Lottery Fund’s Awards For All programme.

The work was done over three days:

  1. Digging out, then pouring in the six massive concrete footings
  2. Putting up the aluminium structure and polycarbonate roof panels
  3. Making good at the bottom of the supports

The structure will provide a sizeable and strong (they are built to survive in schools!) outside area which will increase the ability of the Club to accommodate all visitors at large village events, even when it is raining.

It is hoped to further develop the structure, if/when funds can be sourced, by commissioning removable side panels which will make the area even more versatile and useable for more of the year.
